Yes, I know most states have had that feature for years and years. I think it was an option to do when I lived in Washington like... 20 years ago. ANYWAY, here in Oklahoma the previous personalized plate procedure was this:
Fill out a form with your top 7 plate choices
Mail said form and a check to OKC
Check gets cashed immediately
Wait 3 months with zero communication
Plate arrives in the mail and you finally get to see what plate you got
I did it once and the plate arrived about a month before I sold the car.
I’m usually a little.... meh on personalized plates. Like leather pants or a pimp cup, I secretly like them but not usually inclined to put up any effort or money to procure them. Also they don’t really suit me.
So that poor metaphor out of the way, I discovered when renewing the Volvo’s tags today that you could check personalized plate availability. While doing that I discovered that a couple of surprising plates were available.
So... I bought two.
I am excite, but embarrassed .
I’ll reveal what they are if I am granted them.
Until then you’ll have to deal with my favorite personalized plate:

I can’t wait to know what they are, also where did you check them, I’ve been thinking about getting a custom plate for my Land Cruiser and i3.

Personalized tip lates are fun. The only reason I didn’t get anything on the bmw is I couldn’t think of anything at the time. Now that you can get 8 digits on a Wi plate I want to get ORNGL151 on my next car, maybe.

That’s how I wound up with this one:
I
was looking at MD’s 1910 vintage plates because they were neat and seeing what mildly amusing personalized combos were available. CAR was available
and I
just had to have it, haha.

The one thing VA does right is grants you immediate info on whether or not a plate is available. Then you get to play with alterations/configs to get the correct lettering you want.
Thats how I found out "SMOL PP" was still available at the time.

They also allow people to self-identify as undesirable with these:

Nice - thanks for the tip. Good or bad, I’m sure we’ll start seeing more personalized plates around.
Looking forward to seeing what you chose.

BOOMER SOONER is a thing, so they’d just think you were an OU fan.

I’m super surprised one of them was available to the point I assume they’re going to call me and tell me they made a mistake. If not.... fucking hell I’m excited haha.

Well they’re both now showing as unavailable so... I might have succeeded somehow. I guess we’ll know in 12 to 16 weeks...
